In the heart of Copenhagen lies The Tivoli Gardens; an enchanting amusement park, founded in 1843 by Georg Carstensen. Tivoli is actually the world’s second oldest amusement park, surpassed only by Dyrehavsbakken, which is also located in Denmark. At that time, Tivoli had two rides: a slide and a carousel. Tivoli’s current slide was built in 1924 and is one of the oldest wooden slides in the world that still function to this day. Today, Tivoli is based on renewable energy, as they got their own wind turbine in 2009, which made it possible to supply electricity to the amusement park.

Tivoli had a large place in Ib Antoni’s heart and therefore it is natural that this Copenhagen gem is a major focal point in many of his works. He was an avid guest at Tivoli and enjoyed countless lunches with friends and partners at his favorite eatery in Copenhagen – “Grøften” in Tivoli.

The gardens have been a huge source of joy and inspiration throughout Ib’s life, and we at Antoni Legacy constantly find evidence of this in the review of the more than 1000 originals in our possession. Therefore, we continue to do everything we can to nurture this bond in our brand so that the rest of the world can take part in Ibs and Tivoli’s love affair.
