Hovedstadens Brugsforening (HB)

Ib Antoni had many exciting collaborations with customers from all over the world – such as Hovedstadens Brugsforening, also called HB, which was an association of co-operative societies in Copenhagen formed in 1916.

In 1947, HB transformed their store in Bispebjerg into a self-service store, which was the first step towards the launch of the supermarket in Denmark. In collaboration with FDB, HB established the cooperative department store Anva in 1950, for which Ib Antoni also did assignments. In 1965 HB was the largest retail chain in Denmark and in 1973 they merged with FDB.

As Antoni Legacy is constantly working on cleaning Ib Antoni’s beautiful original drawings, one can never know when a new illustration from Antoni’s hand will see the light of day. But when the illustration is ready for reproduction, it is added to the collection on this page, both under Products, Illustrations and the client for which the illustration is designed. If you have a special interest in, or further knowledge about an Antoni-illustration or an Antoni-customer, you are more than welcome to contact us.
