Dunlop

Ib Antoni had many exciting collaborations with customers from all over the world – such as Dunlop. Dunlop’s story started on three wheels when the founder of Dunlop, John Boyd Dunlop, in 1888 saw his son ride over the cobblestones on his tricycle – and it did not look very comfortable. So to make the little boy’s bike ride a better experience, John wrapped the small bike tires in an extra layer of rubber, after which the father could inflate them with a pump. With this, the airbag system was invented and shortly after, the first air tires followed, when an unknown cyclist could suddenly beat his much stronger competitors – because he had air tires! In this way, motorsport also became part of Dunlop’s legacy. Dunlop grew and grew and continued to focus on research and development.

Ib Antoni’s illustrations for Dunlop are some of his earliest work, which can be seen in the style – and in Antoni’s signature.

As Antoni Legacy is constantly working on cleaning Ib Antoni’s beautiful original drawings, one can never know when a new illustration from Antoni’s hand will see the light of day. But when the illustration is ready for reproduction, it is added to the collection on this page, both under Products, Illustrations and the client for which the illustration is designed. If you have a special interest in, or further knowledge about an Antoni-illustration or an Antoni-customer, you are more than welcome to contact us.
