The Little Mermaid in Tivoli

This lovely sketch was found among the many original sketches of Ib Antoni and has, most likely, been a suggestion to the wonderful Tivoli Gardens.

Antoni has, as many times before, combined two classical icons from the Danish culture – here it is The Little Mermaid along with The Tivoli Gardens, represented with their famous Balloon Swing, that was inaugurated on the celebration of Tivoli’s 100-year anniversary in 1943.

The Little Mermaid’s job is typically to sit down and get her picture taken with the many tourists, that visit Copenhagen – but now it is her turn to have a night out and to enjoy the beautiful city of Copenhagen.

This illustration was made for Tivoli.
