The Danish fairytale writer H. C. Andersen is sitting in a piece of Danish furniture, reading his wonderful fairtytales aloud to the excited children.
This charming illustration, drawn in 1973 for Dansk Møbelfabrikantforening (translated: Danish Furniture Factory Association), is a part of the series of seven “Sit Down, Sit Danish” illustrations, that was the the last series of illustrations from Ib Antoni’s hand before his death in September 1973.
The series was presented only to month after the death of Ib Antoni, at Kunstindustrimuseet (today Designmuseum Denmark).
This illustration was made in 1973 for Dansk Møbelfabrikantforening (translated: Danish Furniture Factory Association).
