Denmark in New York

This illustration was made in 1964 for The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and The Danish Trade Council in the occasion of the World Exhibition in New York, where the illustration represented the Danish Pavillion.

Ib Antoni has placed well-known Danish export successes on the New York skyline; The Little Mermaid & The Swan (whom Antoni reffered to as the Danish answer to The Statue og Liberty in New York), Danish silverware (A. Michelsen, later Georg Jensen), Danish beer (Carlsberg and Tuborg), Danish liquor (Cherry Heering), Danish dairy-products, Danish fur and last but not least Danish furniture (a reference to the beautiful chair “The Swan” designed by Arne Jacobsen and produced by Fritz Hansen.

On the top you can see Dannebrog (the Danish flag) and the symbol of the Danish monarchy, the crown.
